چکیده

This retrospective study aimed to clarify the clinical characteristics of advanced colorectal neoplasms after colonoscopy, likely to have been missed on the previous colonoscopy. We reviewed a total of 5,768 consecutive colonoscopies performed from April 2010 to September 2013 in 4,841 patients, and analyzed advanced colorectal neoplasms after colonoscopy, particularly focusing on their morphological characteristics and locations, as compared with primary lesions, defined as lesions detected in their first colonoscopy or in a subsequent colonoscopy 5 years after the previous one. Of the 5,768 examinations, 922 advanced neoplasms (including 217 cancers with T2) were detected, and 167 lesions (18.1%) were diagnosed within 5 years after a previous colonoscopy (post-colonoscopy advanced neoplasms). The incidence of right-sided lesions in the post-colonoscopy advanced neoplasms (48.5%, 81/167) was significantly higher than in the primary lesions (34.0%, 257/755 ; p 0.001). We excluded 217 cancers with T2 from the morphological analysis to characterize early-stage post-colonoscopy advanced neoplasms. The incidence of non-polypoid lesions in the post-colonoscopy advanced neoplasms (25.6%, 41/160) was significantly higher than that in the primary lesions (12.3%, 67/545 ; p 0.001). These findings suggest that extra attention should be paid to non-polypoid, right-sided advanced colorectal neoplasms during screening and surveillance colonoscopy. J. Med. Teratocarcinomas Arising from Allogeneic Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiac Tissue Constructs Provoked Host Immune Rejection in Mice

Transplantation of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiac tissue constructs is a promising regenerative treatment for cardiac failure: however, its tumourigenic potential is concerning. We hypothesised that the tumourigenic potential may be eliminated by the host immune response after allogeneic cell transplantation. Scaffold-free iPSC-derived cardaic tissue sheets of C57BL/6 mouse origi...

A comparison of the resection rate for cold and hot snare polypectomy for 4-9 mm colorectal polyps: a multicentre randomised controlled trial (CRESCENT study).

OBJECTIVE To investigate the success rate of cold snare polypectomy (CSP) for complete resection of 4-9 mm colorectal adenomatous polyps compared with that of hot snare polypectomy (HSP). DESIGN A prospective, multicentre, randomised controlled, parallel, non-inferiority trial conducted in 12 Japanese endoscopy units. Endoscopically diagnosed sessile adenomatous polyps, 4-9 mm in size, were r...

N-Glycans: Phenotypic Homology and Structural Differences between Myocardial Cells and Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes

Cell surface glycans vary widely, depending on cell properties. We hypothesized that glycan expression on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) might change during cardiomyogenic differentiation toward the myocardial phenotype. N-glycans were isolated from iPSCs, iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CM), and original C57BL/6 mouse myocardium (Heart). Their structures were analyzed by a mapping te...

In vivo differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.

BACKGROUND Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) hold promise for a new era in treating heart failure. However, the functional microstructure of iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) and their ability to attach to the extracellular matrix of the recipient myocardium require further elucidation. Thus, we analyzed the functional microstructure and adhesion molecules of iPSC-CM. METHODS AND RE...

Cardiomyocytes Derived from MHC-Homozygous Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Exhibit Reduced Allogeneic Immunogenicity in MHC-Matched Non-human Primates.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can serve as a source of cardiomyocytes (CMs) to treat end-stage heart failure; however, transplantation of genetically dissimilar iPSCs even within species (allogeneic) can induce immune rejection. We hypothesized that this might be limited by matching the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens between the donor and the recipient. We therefore tr...
